According to Cinema Treasures (2011) the Regal theatre opened in 1955 and closed in 1980, however conflicting information is supplied in Cinema Record ( Kennedy 1995). Kennedy states the Regal opened in January 1951 with a seating capacity was 956. In 1978 the stalls seating was removed to make way for a dance floor/dining area and the lounge was reduced to 347 seats. The building was renamed Invaders Cinema- Discotheque in 1981. Official closing date not recorded

Kennedy (2001) states that the Regal is now a retail outlet.
