The Regent opened Saturday April 7 1928 with a silent film titled The Magic Flame and a talking picture (Hearts in?). Hoyts owned the theatre for some time (jan 1943?-check).

Destroyed by a fire and rebuilt.

In 1973 the theatre was purchased by Jon anderson and his partner Roc Kirby of Village Theatres. Restored and rebuilt the cinema which re-opened with a screening of Gone With the Wind on Novemeber 11 1976.
