Olympia's notes:
The Kilkenny Theatre opened on June 05 1926 and was built by the same company and under the same plans as the Croydon Picture Theatre. The Kilkeeny initially ran in opposition to The Austral, which stood opposite the Kilkenny Railway Station.

The Croydon later became the flagship of the two theatres. The chairman of directors of both the Croydon and the Kilkenny was Tom Hallett who controlled the Hallett Brick Company.
From 1930 until 1947 the third manager of both theatres was Fred Klenner. Fred was later circuit manager of eight other theatres, including Woodville, Hindmarsh, Therabarton, Torrensville, Port Adelaide and Semaphore.
The Star Theatre Circuit took over in 1947 when the both cinemas were sold to the Greater Union and Clifford Theatre Circuit. The theatre was thus renamed Kilkenny Odeon Star. (Burford 2008, p. 28)
