This is the original Hub Theatre in Newtown. It is now known as the Burland Hall. The present day Hub is Hub No. 2 situated on Newtown Bridge. "The original Hub Theatre was further along King Street towards the city, where Burland Hall now stands: it was converted from a swimming baths and skating rink into a picture theatre. Clays Bridge Theatre was the former name of the theatre now called The Hub. It was owned by Harry Clay, and was claimed to be the only vaudeville theatre in Newtown. Advertisements offered patrons "a change of artists weekly" and performances every evening starting at 8.
