The Wondergraph opened in 1913. During 1920 it was renamed the Greater Wondergraph. Along with the Regent it was the first cinema in Adelaide to screen talkies. It closed on December 6, 1930 during the height of the Depression and re-opened on April 4, 1931. Re-opened and named the Civic in March 1932. During 1956 the Civic closed for six months for rebuilding. Re-opened in November 1957 as the State. Parr (1977) reports the closing of State Theatre Adelaide. References Adey, J 2000.
