Venue Comments

The Empress opened in May 1913, and was advertised as being under the direction of the Greater Williams Amusement Co (J.D Williams). The empress was taken over by Hoyts in the 20's. Although it's last entry in the Melbourne Telephone Direcory was in 1958, the building itself lasted until it burnt down in 1971.
