Venue Comments

Montrose Public Hall was built in 1915 and was also known as the Montrose Theatre when regular cinema screenings were held in later years.

"By the beginning of the 1960s regular film screenings were still surviving the impact of television under the exhibitor Brian Dodge, but eventually even the Saturday night film show succumbed as it did in so many small venues in the outer-east of Melbourne around about the mid 1960s." (Seccombe, p. 10)

Closing date based on last listing in Film Weekly.

1948/49 = 200
1952/53-1961/62 = 150
