Venue Comments

The Penthouse Cinema originally intended to cater to the foreign film market but not long after opening it became a sex theatre. The Penthouse was situated in the Nicholas building beside a Mc Donalds restaurant "and with legal action pending was soon forced to close." (Walters, p. 201). The Penthouse closed just over a year. The Club Cinema, Melbourne operated upstairs and continued to run after the closure of the Penthouse.
