Previously Tyres furniture store. The Bercy was built to replace the old Central / Grosvenor, Melbourne in Little Collins Street opening on July 17, 1965.

"The Bercy Theatre was Greater Union's flagship theatre, screening the better films for long seasons, which it did for a number of years. The quality of film programmed into the Bercy Thetare meant the theatre operated on block seating every night of the week...The Bercy Theatre, after the opening of the new Kings / Barclay / Russell Cinemas, Melbourne in 1979, lost the good films and at times became the dumping ground for the rubbish" (Walters, p.188)

The Bercy cinema went up for Auction Dec 6, 1982. Passed in for $1.5 mill. Closed Sept. 29, 1983.
