-reference to screenings: "I wonder if any readers remember the Tivoli Picture Theatre in Glenferrie road, Malvern, where Cole's store now stands. My sister and I were taken there to see 'The Mystery of a Hansom Cab.' I think that was in 1912. Prices were 6d. and I / - and no tax. The film was very interesting and exciting. The plot was well worked put, and everyone was puzzled as to the identity of the person who had murdered the man in the hansom cab. Streets of early Melbourne were shown in the picture. Some years later the theatre was renovated, and when reopened one of the films shown was 'Napoleon on St. Helena.' The last picture screened in the Tivoli before it closed down was 'The End of the Road.' The films I have mentioned were silent."
