Venue Comments

The Regal was located at the corner of Camberwell and Toorak Roads. It was built for Junction Theatre Company and Hoyts Theatres and operated by Hartwell Theatres (Robert Mc Leish was both the managing director of Hartwell and Junction).

The Regal opened on Saturday May 8, 1937 with the screening of Ramona starring Loretta Young and Don Ameche. (Tod, p. 21)
The Regal was closed and demolished in 1958. (Tod, p. 24)
