West's Olympia opened in 1908 . Except for the stage, the Olympia building was demolished in 1938 Opened 1939, replacing original Wests opened in 1908; closed Feb 2 1977. Became a Chinese restaurant closed in Dec 1981. Next came two cinemas, Hindley 5 and 6 (1-4 were in the old Metro Theatre across the road). Time zone First-run city house controlled by Union Theatres. First sound screening at this cinema was on November 23, 1929. The film was !Film:Innocents of Paris!.
