The Argus (24 July 1922) reports "Hoyt's New Canterbury Theatre, adjoining the Canterbury railway station was re-opened on Saturday night after having been completely re-seated and decorated." Operation dates based on the last listing in Film Weekly: motion picture directory. Bertrand files note that it was started by a group of employees from a city theatre, possibly from the Gaiety, including Mr. Albert Wright.
