16mm films were exhibited in the Miners Reading Hall on a twice weekly basis throughout the 1940s and into early 1950 (Parkinson 1995, p. 92).

In 1955 the original structure was demolished and a Community Hall erected in its stead. Film exhibition was briefly re-established in July 1956 but had ceased by the end of 1958 according to Parkinson (1995, p. 93) due to unprofitability.
