Venue Comments

Lessee: Joint control of Wollongong Theatres Pty Ltd and Greater Union Theatres.

It is notable that the drive-in opened at a time when television was establishing across Australia. According to Parkinson (1995, p. 83 & 91), rather than attempt to compete with the new medium in August 1958 Southline management installed a set in the dining area for the amusement of patrons during intermission and prior to the start of the movie.
