Venue Comments

In May 1908 Morris opened the New Hippodrome (beside and behind the hotel) which was described as a skating rink, and was screening films in winter, while the !Venue: 1758 continued in summer. Both venues were screening King's Pictures in the middle of 1909, until the new Venue: 1760! (like the Summer Gardens, attached to the hotel) was opened in April 1910.
By 18 April King's Pictures were being advertised in King's Hall, and there is no further reference to the Hippodrome as a picture venue.
The Hippodrome building continued to be used for other purposes - both entertainment, and later industrial.
