Bellion operated the New Oxford Theatre in tandem with the Rialto Gardens for a short while. In 1935 the Rialto Gardens were closed and the New Oxford Gardens, Leederville opened.
The theatre closed in 1968 and reopened in 1971 as the Nickleodeon. In 1972 to 1973 the venue reverted back to it's original name. In 1974 it reopened as the Olympia screening foreign language films. In 1980 it once again reverted back to the name the Oxford and was later twinned in 1982 (cinema 2 seated 150). From 1981-86 the Oxford 2 became adult cinema during the day known as the Star. In 1995, after extensive renovations the New Oxford was taken over by Valhalla (Melbourne) Group and Lumiere (Perth) and renamed Luna Twin. The following year the Luna Open Air Gardens screened at the Leederville Oval. A new Luna Gardens was opened on 26 December 1996, entrance through a shopfront in Oxford St, beside the theatre. When the gardens re-opened for the 1997-8 summer season, the entrance had been again re-located, through the former candy bar. (Bertrand 2001)
