"Kinema theatre closed down on October 30, 1983...The Kinema outlived by nearly twenty years the huge Hoyts Park theatre which was built to replace it" (Kino, p. 18)

The cinema re-opened in 1938 after an extensive renovation by architect R. A. Le P. Terry and under the control of the Consolidated Theatres Company. The new manager was Stan Cherry.

Kinema opened in 1920. Hoyts sold it just before the opening of Park. Towards the end of 1938, the theatre was reopened and was under the control of the then newly formed Consolidated Theatre Company. Alterations to the building were made at this time.

Sold to Cosmopolitan Theatres in Feb 1966. "By the 1970's only Greek films were being screened usually at weekends." (Hanson, p. 13)

Final screening Oct 30, 1983.
