Opened as the Princess in 1925; became Ozone in 1929; then Hoyts; then Wallis in 1971; became Chelsea in 1972; 1984 capacity 586 extra notes. The theatre was purchased by Ozone theatres (the Waterman family) who renovated and renamed the theatre. Hoyts purchased the theatre in 1951. Installed Cinema Scope in 1955. In 1964 the theatre was sold to Burnside council. In 1971 Wallis theatres took over the lease and renamed the theatre, the Chelsea.
