The Roxy is an art deco building and was opened in 1930 as a cinema. A stage was added in 1933

The Theatre was privately owned and operated as a live venue and film cinema until 1977.

The Roxy is once again in operation and has been classified by the National Trust. In its present role, is a multi-function centre combining concert, live theatre, films and community events with a capacity in excess of 800 seats. Films are screened on Friday and Saturday nights, with matinees during school holidays.
