Also named Carlton Moviehouse, Bughouse and Carlton Picture Palace. This theatre operated as an independent cinema. Began screening Italian films in 1963.

The Carlton Theatre was a family run business, Mr Mc Clelland's father, Mack, showed the films. His mother worked in the ticket box. Mr Mc Clelland sold sweets and his sister ran the shop. Mr Mc Clelland left the Carlton Theatre in 1978.

From 1964 the Carlton theatre started advertising Italian film screenings intermittently in Il Globo

Some alterations were made in 1979 (which is when it became known as the Carlton Movie House) and it re-opened on 3rd August 1979. It closed in June 1999.

Classified by the National Trust partly for its history but also for the notable 'silent screen', a big white rectangle on the back wall, surrounded by painted scenes, that formed the original screen.
