The Merimbula Theatre operated out of Twyford Hall in the centre of Merimbula. The cinema closed in 1951for a period of ten years. In 1961 Mr R Burke, proprietor of the Excelsior Theatre in Eden re-established the picture shows on a weekly basis. By 1967 numbers had dwindled and from that date forth screenings took place during holiday periods only.
