The Cobargo School of Arts Hall was used by travelling picture show companies for the exhibition of film from at least 1900 to 1965.

In 1926 the School of Arts Committee attempted to establish a permanent cinema for the benefit of residents however by June 1930 the venture was disbanded due to poor patronage (Bowles 2007; Coen 2006).
