Movies were exhibited in the Bemboka School of Arts Hall courtesy of a variety of travelling picture show companies from 1898 until the late 1950s. At this time the hall committee introduced regular showing using 16mm film (Hanson 2008; Parkinson 2010).

The original School of Arts Hall was demolished in the late 1950s and a new building, renamed Bemboka Memorial Hall was built in its place. 16mm films continued to be shown on a weekly basis until 1965 due to falling audience numbers apparently brought about by the introduction of television (Parkinson 2010, p.53-54).
