"Although the new building was constructed for the Thebarton Council, who also paid for it, it was in fact a structure designed and built primarily as a theatre for screening films, however it also had to have a stage large enough to accommodate 300 children for Sunday School Anniversaries, as requested in a letter from the Town Clerk to the architects."
