The Sussex Inlet Hall was built in 1947 and a licence for the exhibition of film approved the following year. Film Weekly (1946) does not list the venue as a registered cinema until 1956 however Parkinson (2005, p. 46) notes that local sources contend films were exhibited in the hall from as early as 1948.

Films are known to have been exhibited on a weekly basis throughout the 1960s into the 1980s however for the next two decades operated in holiday seasons only (Parkinson 2005, p. 47).

The cinema has since undergone an extensive upgrade and is still in operation, exhibiting on a daily basis.
