The Warrnambool theatre opened in 1930 with a seating capacity of 1150 seats. It was operated by CIVIC Pictures on behalf of the owners, Warrnambool Investments Pty Ltd. The cinema re-opened under new management as the Capitol in 1935. Since 1980 the Capitol has been associated with Village.
