The Oddfellow Hall was built and opened in 1892. Around 1901 the hall name was changed the Mansfield Public Hall. The local papers of the time report pictures being shown every Tuesday. After the the first would war films were again screened at the hall. Fowler's Pictures commenced screening on November 1, 1919 operating every Saturday night. Fowler Pictures continued operating in the public hall until 1923. In 1923 the R.S.L took over the running of the pictures and they became known as the Returned Soldiers Pictures. The R.S.L. purchased the building outright in 1930 and it then became known as the Soldiers Hall. in 1931 Doug Burns and Ern Hornby took over the running of the Returned Soldiers Pictures. Doug Burns continued to show films and hold dances until 1946. John Bulmer, Eric cole and Ron Dale took over the lease for a short time before closing in November 1948.
