Summary of cinema venues in Lorne (Coubrie 2010):

-Open-air venue opened on the Lorne foreshore in 1916; On flat land near Erskine House not far from the failed open-air venue, a small hall for picture shows and dancing was erected; in the early 20's a more comfortabe 300 seat two-level theatre was built. In 1935 an open-air skating rink was added and later roofed over. In the 50's the old theatre was rented and operated as a nightclub called 'The Wild Colonial'; in 1937 the new Lorne Theatre is built on Mountjoy Parade.
